Preparing Our Kids for CHRISTmas
Christmas Program? Christmas Pageant? Christmas Service?
Since Lutherans like to focus on the true meaning of Christmas we at Bethany call ours a Christmas Service. Although it sounds formal, it often is not. We do, though, want it to be reverent as possible. In it the children tell the wonderful news that Jesus was born to save us. Here are a few ideas to help your children and you keep that focus.
- Start talking, if you haven’t already, how Advent is the time of preparation for CHRISTmas.
- Discuss why Jesus was born.
- Talk about Jesus becoming human like us and growing up to be the Savior of all.
- Discuss the important role your children have in being able to tell this news to others.
- Help your child “keep the focus” which is even hard for us some times.
- Be sure your children are well fed, rested and dressed in comfortable clothes for the actual service.
- During the service help us to keep a worshipful atmosphere.
- After the service, remind your children of the privilege they had to tell others about our Savior and share the good news and how happy it made you.
- During this season, may you and your family enjoy all of the special traditions and events that take place. More importantly, may you always see the CHRIST in CHRISTmas.
